Type Locality and Naming

Along the Apshir (Abshir) River, South-Eastern Fergana. S.N. Simakov, 1953 (416, p.98).

Synonym: Aishirskaya Formation, Апширская (абширская) св.


Lithology and Thickness

Red, gray, mottled gypsum-bearing clays with nodules and layers of gypsum, conglomerates, and sandstones; in the Isfayram-Sokh interfluve, gypsums predominate with layers of clays and dolomites only in the lower part. Thickness 40-90m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Iskinaukat-Cret Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Tokubay Fm or Kyzylpilyal Fm

Regional extent

Naukat Basin, South-Eastern Fergana and the interfluve of the Isfayram-Sokh in Southern Fergana. Along A.V. Sochava, it is the upper sub-suite of the Lyakan Fm (166; 417; 434). N.N. Bobkova". Page following (446).
